What are action values?
Values in Action (VIA) are learning experiences that support students’ development as socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills. VIA also moulds a platform for pupils to develop community leadership.
Are action values compulsory?
It is compulsory for students in primary and secondary schools, junior colleges and centralised institutes. One of the campaigns launched by the students, called Grampathy (a combination of gratitude and empathy), involved the publishing of a children’s storybook last year and a comic book this year.
How do you earn 2 CCA points?
For a student to score two bonus CCA points — which is the maximum — the basic requirements are a Level 3 for three domains, and a Level 4 for one domain. It’s easy to score a Level 4 in the Participation domain.

How is CCA points calculated?
One point is awarded for each year of participation with 75% attendance in one CCA. Points are awarded for the Intra-School activities as well as for participation in the Singapore Youth Festival and the annual National Day Parade. The maximum point limit is 10 points from 3 activities.
